Before moving to Florida to assist her elderly relative, Laura Vangilder evaluated claims for the Combat-Related Special compensation for injured veterans.
Today, Vanglider helps veterans understand how to apply for this not-well-publicized program.
Now a registered life insurance sales broker, Vanglider helps more than 20 veterans per week evaluate possible claims. “Many factors go into a Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) payment, and every case differs.
“This can be confusing, and the information online isn’t always helpful,” she wrote recently in a LinkedIn post. “In addition, your Branch of Service will not give you an estimated CRSC percentage or payment amount from DAFS, and DFAS will not give you a hypothetical payment amount without your CRSC percentage,” she added in her post. “They want you to apply to find out. It’s frustrating, takes time, and many don’t apply because of it.”
Veterans who want to contact Vanglider, a former Army medic, can contact her via Calendly.
