Last Patrol needs volunteers to visit vets in hospice

The Veteran’s Last Patrol has a mission that can impact  military professionals of all ranks and ages.

Last Patrol tries to connect volunters to veterans in their geographical  area for friendships during  their end-of-life care.

While their home base is Spartanburg, S.C., the non-profit can help veterans help each other throughout the U.S.

According to Claude Schmid, the organization founder, many elderly veterans lose contact with their families as they enter a hospice or senior care facility.

“Some veterans have families who live in other parts of the U.S. or have had difficult relationships with their fathers and mothers,” Schmidt, a former Army officer said.  “This program helps veterans to connect with other vets while they’re in a hospice.”
