VA offers disability matrix to help vets understand their entitlements

If there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about VA benefits, it’s because most veterans don’t know about the VA’s Service Connected Matrix.

Retired Army Command Sergeant Major E.G Mais, an accredited veteran service officer for the VFW Post 8541 in San Antonio, shared with us the link to this amazing resource.

“There is so much misinformation about what a veteran entitled to, sometimes due to claims sharks and what I would like to call the VA barracks lawyer,” Sergeant Major Mais noted.

Veterans can click on the graphic below to find the VA.gov website to find general resources available to them.

Some communities offer additional benefits based upon one’s disability rating.  For example, Bexar County offers a tax incentive on property taxes.   Travelers using San Antonio International Airport,. depending on their disability rating, can qualify for parking at the city’s airport.  They also can park at the city’s downtown meters or garages at no charge.

Mais suggests veterans should contact their city or county veterans service officer to determine which additional benefits their disability rating will qualify them to receive for their disability status.
