BENEFEDS.gov offers ways for active duty to save on vision and dental care

When Jason David posts one of his “LIFE HACKS” on his LinkedIn page, the team at the Military Transition Roundtable pays attention to the topic.

“Navigating life as a military family was expensive. Really expensive. No one joins the military to get rich,” David, a retired Air Force chief master sergeant said.

“BUT there are ways to save money, especially vision, that i did not know about until after I retired. I could have saved tons of money for my daughter in glasses, doctors visits if I knew that I was eligible for insurance through BENEFEDS.gov, the same plans that GS employees have access to. Active duty does as well! ” he added in his post.

For David, he estimated that if he had used BENEFEDS.gov while on active duty, he would have save thousands on his daughter’s eye care.

In an interview with us, he said military professionals facing a future exodus from military service, should review the programs available at the www.benevids.gov website.  By enrolling in the program before their retirement, they can save money by having their coverages grandfathered in, while they are still on active duty.
