How many resumes should you have? The answer may shock you… or not.
I just finished up an employment coaching session with the fifth Veteran employment seeker who was confident that their AI generated, or “professionally” written resume was the only resume they needed when on the job search. Resumes I shredded because they were full of irrelevant or not enough information for the specific job they were applying to.
I get it. I remember part of the TAP/ transition classes telling people that they would only need “one or two” resumes when applying for private jobs.
WRONG!
So how many resumes should you have?
The answer is, you will have as many resumes as you have job applications.
Why? Because every resume needs to be tailored and focused to that particular job, at that particular professional level, within that particular company or agency.
So if you’ve been sending out the same resume over, and over, and over, without an interview, this is probably the reason.
