Mark Overberg, a frequent contributor to our website, just posted this LinkedIn article about a change in the TRICARE For Life benefits.
“As of Aug. 31, 2025, the TRICARE pharmacy benefit doesn’t cover weight loss drugs for TRICARE For Life beneficiaries, individuals with direct care coverage, and certain other groups when treatment of obesity is the primary diagnosis. These include Ozempic, Mounjaro, Trulicity, Victoza,” he posted
Overberg adds this policy will also impact those veterans with Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Advantage plans will begin changing this after they post their annual Medicare Notice of Change letters Oct. 1.
For those taking those meds, it’s time to discuss this with their primary care management team about a possible change in their prescription to include diabetes or heart-related issues due to excessive weight.
