For veterans with PTSD, the Independence Day holiday is one that they want to avoid because of the fireworks.  That is why a local VFW post want to host an event without the firecrackers.

That’s why San Antonio and veterans might consider joining other veterans for the July 4 celebration at the American VFW, located at 2222 Austin Highway.  The post will serve hot dogs and burgers at 5 p.m., and veterans are asked to bring a covered dish.  Fireworks are not allowed at this event.
